        Book Core Reading Read the following: p.58 and p.59 (about representations of mental calculations) and p.77 – p.91. This looks like a lot, but it is mostly pictures and diagrams. As you read, consider the following questions: 1. Pick a mental calculation that you are going to give to your children. Is there a way you could make it ‘visual’ to help them with a mental strategy? From Boaler’s suggestions (p.77-91), think about a maths lesson that you are due to teach. How could you tweak the lesson to make it more investigative, or exploratory for the children?
